Michel van Eeten is a professor of cybersecurity at TU Delft. He investigates the interplay between technical choices and economic incentives in cybersecurity. His team analyzes large-scale datasets with observations of vulnerabilities and incidents in IT infrastructure to answer how market players deal with security risks. Van Eeten has advised various ministries, the European Commission, the International Telecommunications Union and the OECD on cybersecurity. He is also a member of the Cybersecurity Council, an advisory body to the government. In addition to his scholarly work, Van Eeten also writes fiction. His most recent novel, "Sacred Means," was published by AtlasContact in 2018.
