Goudsmit, Maarten

Maarten Goudsmit is an associate of the Privacy Team and has worked at Kennedy Van der Laan since December 2012.Maarten studied law at the University of Amsterdam and obtained his master's degree in the field of information law. After obtaining his master's degree in Amsterdam, Maarten studied IP & IT Law at Fordham University in New York City, where he obtained his LL.M magna cum laude. Before joining Kennedy Van der Laan, Maarten worked for one and a half years as an attorney at another large law firm in Amsterdam.Maarten's practice consists, inter alia, of advising on the procurement of IT services and the inevitable privacy issues that this entails. He regularly advises on data breach notification requirements. He also has extensive experience when it comes to data protection in the exchange of medical data. He has assisted the Association of Healthcare Providers for Healthcare Communication (VZVZ) up to and including the Supreme Court in defending the National Switch Point (LSP) for the exchange of patient data. Maarten has also assisted several clients during investigations by the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.
