Guidelines third-country transfer final and new training materials AI & AVG

New guidelines from the European Data Protection Board (EDPB) on third-country transfers are final. In addition, the EDPB has published training materials to increase AI & data protection skills among professionals. At the last plenary session, the EDPB also discussed updating obligations around processing registries.

Guidelines transfer to authorities third countries

In the guidelines, the EDPB clarifies the rules for sharing personal data with government agencies outside the European Economic Area (EEA) if a European private organization receives a request to do so. After a consultation period, some parts of the guidelines were further clarified. For example, how it works if the recipient of a transfer request is a processor. So the guidelines are now final.

Training materials AI & data protection

The EDPB is publishing two documents that will help professionals increase their skills in artificial intelligence (AI) and data protection. They are: Both documents will also soon be made available under Creative Commons license, allowing anyone to suggest modifications and add comments to further improve the documents.

Processing register obligation

At the request of the European Commission, the EDPB and European Data Protection Supervisor (EDPS) are announcing a joint opinion (joint opinion) on potentially modifying the requirement for smaller organizations to maintain a processing register. This includes small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and other organizations with fewer than 750 employees. The opinion will follow within eight weeks.
