On June 16, the tech giant announced will add ads to WhatsApp. They will be seen in the updates section of the app. According to Meta, this is "the right place for ads, keeping your chats undisturbed.

'Ads with privacy in mind'

According to Meta, the ads are designed with "privacy in mind. Chats and phone calls remain encrypted, according to the tech giant. Still, the company is going to use information from users to target ads. Information such as location, age and language will be used to personalize ads.
