  • Background: additional measures by Meta

The Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens (AP) has been in contact in recent weeks with the Irish privacy regulator, which oversees Meta because of its European headquarters in Ireland. Meta says take additional measures to protect personal data, such as by incorporating filters that remove personal and sensitive information before data is used for AI training.

The AP has reviewed Meta's objection forms and confirmed that they work well. Still, concerns remain about how they actually work in practice.

    Reporting negative consequences

Users who do not object give Meta permission to use all public posts and photos they have ever posted. Any problems or negative consequences can be reported to the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens at this page.

    Importance of reporting

Reports help the supervisor monitor the implementation of this new way of working and intervene where necessary.
