The AP notes that AI is increasingly being used in society. With it, the likelihood of incidents is also increasing. One of the privacy watchdog's advice is to be cautious about its deployment when organizations doubt they have the risks under control.

Yesterday, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens (AP) published the new Report AI & Algorithm Risks Netherlands (RAN). As coordinator of the supervision of algorithms and artificial intelligence (AI), the authority analyzes the risks surrounding AI systems every six months.
As an example of such an incident, the AP cites a case of scams in Asia. Recently, an employee in a finance department received an email to transfer 23 million euros. The employee did not initially trust it. After an online meeting with the chief financial officer and all direct colleagues within the company, the employee transferred the amount after all. However, it turned out to be fraud after all. All participants in the online meeting, except for the scammed employee, had been faked by criminals using deep faking technology.
The incident underscores the AP's message that people should be aware of the risks of AI. Also, the authority believes there needs to be more knowledge about artificial intelligence. Everyone should be vigilant, reads the AP's message.
