On April 23, Apple was already fined for violating the DMA. At the time, the European Commission blamed Apple for preventing app developers from selling their products outside the App Store. Sources now report to Bloomberg that European Commission staff are considering fining Apple again if the company misses the June 26 deadline to make it easier for app developers to sell their products outside the App Store.

Should Apple miss this deadline, the company risks another fine. This could amount to as much as 5 percent of daily sales for each day the company violates the DMA. An Apple spokesman says it is impossible for the company to comply with the DMA because the EU keeps changing and tightening the rules. A Commission spokesman let it be known that Apple still has time to submit a proposal to adjust its policies.
