The Stichting Internet Domeinregistratie Nederland (SIDN) recently leaked data of domain name holders through the Whois search function on sidn.nl.

"During the maintenance, web servers were replaced. New connections were made for this purpose, in which a mistake was made. The new machines unintentionally had more access. As a result, more registration details of the affected domain name holder were visible in the Whois," the foundation writes in a statement on its website.
At issue are names, address details, e-mail addresses and phone numbers of domainers. "This data should only be visible to the managing registrar and SIDN," says the foundation. SIDN is now investigating the impact of the data breach. It has also announced that it will take measures to prevent such an incident in the future. "To handle this incident correctly and report it to the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens , we are carefully going through all the steps," ISDN said.
