DDoS attack causes problems at Justice websites

Due to a DDoS attack, websites of the Judiciary have been poorly accessible since Tuesday morning. Citizens, lawyers and other professional litigants may experience problems visiting rechtspraak.nl and consulting online registers and forms. It is also not possible to attend hearings online and services that require logging in (such as the role journals, Mijn Rechtspraak, Mijn Strafdossier and other portals) are poorly accessible.

News press release

In a DDoS (distributed denial of service attack), a large amount of traffic is sent to a server. Because the server cannot handle it, the services running from that server crash.

Solution

The Judiciary is working on a structural solution in consultation with external suppliers, but unfortunately no prediction can be made as to how long the problems will last. The advice to users of the above services is to try again later. Visitors' data is not at risk. The Judiciary is reporting the attack.
