With social media playing such a dominant role in our public debate, it is important that you can decide for yourself where your information comes from. Do you want to see content from your friends and the organizations you follow, or do you want to see what Meta presents to you? Because the information you see determines your view of the world around you.
Since the turn of the year, you can finally decide for yourself again. When you go to Instagram or Facebook, you can choose between Meta's timeline ('for you') or a timeline with content from the accounts you follow ('following'). And that choice is remembered. So even if you go to yourdirect messagesand then switch back. Or if you close the app and reopen it. This applies to the landing page when you open the app, but also to the Reels page and the overview of comments under the content.
