Sources report to Bloomberg that the Commission is currently investigating the structure of X, which Musk acquired in March for $33 billion. The level of fines under the DSA is determined by the global turnover of companies. As a result, the size and structure of the combined companies can impact the amount of any fine.

People involved in the case report to Bloomberg that the first fines could be announced before the Commission's August recess. A Commission spokesman said the following: "We are closely monitoring changes in X's corporate structure, as we would with other designated platforms."

Under the DSA, the Commission can fine up to 6 percent of global annual sales. X, to avoid a possible fine, could still address EU objections.
