Municipality of Amsterdam 8 May 2025
The data entered by officials remain within the municipality and are not used to further train the underlying language model.
With ChatAmsterdam, the municipality aims to take the next step toward digital independence and safe, responsible use of artificial intelligence within the organization.
Safety
In February, Amsterdam tightened its policy on the use of generative AI and applications such as ChatGPT, Midjourney and Copilot. According to the municipality, ChatAmsterdam is a secure alternative within which officials can work faster and more conveniently. The municipality also says that all data used by ChatAmsterdam remains the property of the municipality. The municipality emphasizes being open about how it processes the data and how it uses the algorithms.
Collaboration
The municipality is exploring how to share the knowledge about ChatAmsterdam with other municipalities and government agencies. 'This way ChatAmsterdam can serve as a building block for more digital independence within government.'
