About 3,000 women affected by the data breach at Laboratory Clinical Diagnostics have come forward for possible mass claims.
Law firm Van Diepen Van der Kroef has set up a platform where victims of the data breach can register. The firm's main aim at the moment is to chart how many people feel duped, and whether there is any legal ground for a collective claim. Spokesman Dol made this known on behalf of the law firm.
Several investigations into the data breach are currently underway. The Ministry of Health is evaluating the way the citizen service number (BSN) is used in healthcare. Among other things, it is looking at whether data at the Clinical Diagnostics laboratory was shared appropriately and whether too much information was involved.
"Healthcare providers, health insurers and indication bodies are obliged to register the BSN of patients. They must also use the number when exchanging data about patients," the central government writes on its website. "The use of a BSN is not set in stone: we are looking at whether anything should be changed as a result of the research results," a spokesperson said.
