Meta tries to entice OpenAI employees with gig bonuses of up to $100 million

Mark Zuckerberg is reportedly personally involved in recruiting employees for a new "superintelligence" unit that Meta plans to use to compete with OpenAI. Just last week, the tech giant announced it was investing $14.3 billion in Scale AI.

Meta itself has not yet responded to the news. However, the company has succeeded in hijacking top AI industry talent from other companies before. For example, reported Bloomberg earlier that Meta had hired Jack Rae, a key researcher at Google's AI division DeepMind.

Altman is not bitter about Meta's action, he said in the podcast Uncapped of his brother Jack Altman: 'Meta sees us as their biggest rival. I respect aggressive strategies like this'. According to Altman, so far none of the best OpenAI contributors have accepted an offer from Meta.
