The NCSC has received reports that citizens have been contacted by both email and phone by someone posing as an employee of the National Cyber Security Center (NCSC). The person in question typically contacts individuals by phone or email to offer "help" with online fraud. This is a form of phishing; the NCSC will never contact you personally on its own initiative. Be alert when you receive an email or phone call from the NCSC about online cryptocurrency fraud.

Phishing (1) is an attack technique used by malicious parties to extract sensitive data. This is often done via email, but can also occur via phone, text message or WhatsApp. The malicious party's goal is to quickly gain trust and then extract personal information to misuse. You can think of bank information, transaction receipts, fines or login information.
Have you received a suspicious e-mail or phone call? Or do you suspect fraud with your data or banking? Then contact the Fraud Helpdesk (2). The Fraud Helpdesk offers victims a helping hand by giving advice and referring them to the right authority. You can also find more information about current and known fraud campaigns on the Fraud Helpdesk website.
The NCSC's statutory task is to support organizations in vital sectors in the area of cyber security. We aim to increase the digital resilience of the Netherlands, limit the consequences of cyber incidents and thus prevent social disruption.
