Easy access to data gives municipalities and other parties insight into the housing task. To be able to work data-driven, VNG is launching the prototype of the Datahub Internal Housing Information (DIWI) for municipalities.
In recent months, VNG has been working with 8 pilot municipalities to develop a prototype for this data tool. With it, municipalities can track the construction flow from the moment an initiative comes in to completion.
When a housing initiative comes into the municipality, it is registered in DIWI. As the project progresses, more and more information is added to DIWI. Information that now often remains in Excel files or employees' heads, such as the planned construction program.
In the system, municipalities can also enter objectives that apply to housing. These can be college ambitions, agreements made in the housing region or government targets.
In addition, municipal departments can also put their agreements with the developer into the system. For example, the employee of building and housing supervision can see the agreements that his colleague has recorded at an earlier stage. This improves cooperation and provides insight into the implementation of the agreements. Because all the definitions in DIWI match, the quality of the data is also a lot more accurate.
Within DIWI, much information can be generated automatically. With this, DIWI can provide dashboards that show housing programming. In addition, the system can create reports to keep the municipal government informed, for example. Also, twice a year, the municipality can automatically deliver its information from DIWI to the provincial plan monitors.
The VNG will work with municipalities to further develop the prototype into a usable tool. This group of frontrunner municipalities will actually start using DIWI. We are still looking for a number of municipalities that want to join this group.
