The Code of Conduct for Electronic Data Exchange in Healthcare (EGiZ) is used in collaboration between healthcare providers. It ensures secure electronic exchange of patient data. This code of conduct has now been updated. The new version does not contain any new rules, but has been adapted to the AVG, among other things.

The Egiz code of conduct promotes safe handling of medical data by providing clarity on existing laws and regulations surrounding data exchange, privacy and the medical professional secret. It helps healthcare providers, such as doctors, general practitioners, pharmacists, hospitals and collaborative ventures, to implement patient rights regarding the provision of information and consent when exchanging patient data electronically. For example, which forms of electronic data exchange do require the patient's explicit consent (opt-in) (e.g. for the LSP) and which do not. In addition, the code of conduct provides clarity on patient data security and clarification of responsibilities.
The Egiz code of conduct is a result of collaboration between the following organizations: KNMG and federation partners, NVZ, Ineen, KNMP and regional organizations SIGRA (formerly EZDA), Zorgring NHN, Sleutelnet, RSO Haaglanden, Zorgnet Oost (formerly IZIT), RZCC, REN West-Brabant and GERRIT.
