Effective way

Noyb also finds the level of fines imposed inadequate. "While data security professionals argue that fines are the most effective way to ensure companies comply with the law. (...) Most cases drag on over several years before being settled with a settlement or dismissed altogether." Often the judgments of regulators are to the detriment of the person who filed the privacy complaint, said Austrian lawyer, privacy activist and founder of noyb Max Schrems.

Slovakia

Noyb posted on its website an overview of the average number of fines and complaints per year per EU member from 2018-2023. The Slovak privacy regulator issued the most fines: in 6.84 percent of cases. The Personal Data Authority issued the least number of fines: in 0.03 percent of cases.

Noyb

Noyb plays an important role when it comes to violations of the AVG/GDPR. All sanctions imposed from 2018 through 2023 resulted from a complaint or case brought by the privacy organization.
