The Public Prosecutor's Office (OM) disconnected all internal systems from the Internet last Thursday as a precautionary measure. This measure was taken in response to a security vulnerability in Citrix NetScaler. Minister Van Weel of Justice and Security informed the House of Representatives.
The National Cyber Security Center (NCSC) recently warned about the security vulnerability in Citrix NetScaler. Disconnecting the systems was done as a precaution, Van Weel wrote in a letter to the House of Representatives. "An analysis of the OM environments has given reason to believe that this potential vulnerability has been exploited."
"Employees can no longer log in outside a OM location, and there are restrictions within the office environment as well," a spokesperson explained. It is not known what consequences this will have for handling criminal cases. "As soon as more is known about the nature, extent and consequences of the possible vulnerability in the system, I will inform your Chamber in more detail," Van Weel said.
