72 hours without water, power or internet. With the new "Think Ahead" campaign, the government is helping residents prepare for emergencies.

Not only natural disasters or power outages require preparation; digital outages can also disrupt the country. Think of a major power outage or cyber attack, causing ATMs, Internet or the mobile network to malfunction. The Think Ahead campaign shows how an emergency kit, emergency plan and an eye for each other help in times of crisis. And provides information on risks and preparation via the accompanying website.
Do you work at a security region, municipality or other government organization? Join us and help residents in your region be better prepared. Check out the toolkit and use risk awareness as a recurring topic in your local communications. Coordination of the campaign is in the hands of the National Coordinator for Counterterrorism and Security (NCTV). Implementation is done together with national, regional and local governments, the business community and civil society partners.
The call for preparation does not come out of nowhere. Research commissioned by the Ministry of Justice and Security shows that 6 in 10 Dutch people feel that the likelihood of an emergency situation has increased over the past year. They worry about a major power outage, extreme weather or a cyber attack. Currently, 3 in 10 Dutch people say they are prepared, for example with an emergency kit.
