Necessary intervention

As a result, no educational activities will take place at TU Eindhoven on Monday, Jan. 13. "We realize that turning off the network has unpleasant consequences, for all our students, employees, but also for other parties on campus. This necessary intervention was done to prevent worse. We therefore hope for understanding, and we will do our utmost to solve this and have all systems accessible again as soon as possible," said Patrick Groothuis, vice president of the Executive Board.

Data

Due to the network being taken offline, it is not possible to use network-related facilities including e-mail, Wi-Fi, Canvas and Teams. The university later announced that the parking system, internal phone system and cafeteria cash registers are not working. About the exact nature of the attack, the university could not say much during the investigation, "But it had all the characteristics of a cyber attack given the suspicious activity on our servers. (...). There is no sign yet that data has been stolen, we are still investigating that."
