The Uitvoeringsinstituut Werknemersverzekeringen (UWV) and the Sociale Verzekeringsbank (SVB) want government agencies to be able to share citizens' data with each other more easily.

The SVB believes it is very important that data may be exchanged more easily to enable proactive service provision. However, the current legal bases are limited to the implementation of schemes only. "A lot is already happening within the social security chain to enable information sharing in order to provide optimal services to citizens. However, more is still needed to improve data sharing and make it possible to approach citizens in a proactive and targeted way," the SVB said. In a bottleneck letter, the Insurance Bank calls for a broader task order that will make this possible.
The UWV has also come out with a bottleneck letter. In it, the implementing organization pleads for faster data exchange and processing. "The necessary adaptation of legislation often takes several years, while current events call for a quick(er) solution," said the UWV. The organization further argues that in the services offered, the right to privacy may be at odds with the fundamental right to security of existence. According to UWV board chairman Maarten Camps, rules intended to protect people in some cases prevent them from helping people.
