The report below examines the state of innovation within Dutch government organizations, with a comparison to previous measurements and Denmark. The study shows that the rate of innovation has declined since 2021, but that three-quarters of organizations are still innovating, mainly through process innovations with a focus on digitization and artificial intelligence. Success factors for innovation are a strong innovation environment and human capital, while failure is often due to a lack of support or insufficient elaboration of the process. The sources include both quantitative analyses and qualitative examples of innovations ranging from AI-driven service delivery and surveillance with drones to social innovations and water management.
