Citizens have the right to know whether and what police data about them is being processed. In a case from 2024, a citizen asked the police to amend his police records after he was given access to his file. The police denied the request, after which the citizen went to court. The court ruled that only data deemed "inaccurate" in exceptional circumstances should be amended; the bar for this is higher than in ordinary personal data law (under the AVG).
