125 Dutch dental practices have been closed because of a cyber incident. These are practices of Colosseum Dental Benelux. There are more than 130 of them in Belgium and the Netherlands. Some 600,000 patients are treated there annually.

RTL News has learned from an undisclosed source that employees no longer have access to patient histories. This possibly points to a ransomware attack as the cause. However, this has not been confirmed. "Due to an IT outage, this page is currently unavailable. We are making every effort to be accessible again as soon as possible. Apologies for the inconvenience, we thank you for your understanding," the Colosseum Dental website reads.
The company says it has reported the incident to the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens (AP). "Where necessary, we are also contacting those whose interests may have been affected by this incident," said a spokesperson for Colosseum Dental Benelux.
Currently, the company is working to restore the systems. Together with outside parties, it is investigating the incident. Because of the ongoing investigation, the spokesperson would not say which party was behind the incident, or whether any patient data was captured.
