Software company Wolters Kluwer has taken several platforms and applications for accountants offline due to a cyber attack. The software company did this to limit the damage caused by the malware.

Users, who were consequently denied access to their online CCH accounting software, reacted angrily. CCH is cloud-based accounting and tax software.
In a statement, Wolters Kluwer announced that on Monday, May 6, it detected "technical irregularities" in a number of platforms and applications. Further investigation revealed that these were malware. As a precaution, the company subsequently took a series of platforms and applications offline. "With this action, we wanted to limit the impact the malware could have," Wolters Kluwer explains. "Unfortunately, this also affected our communication channels and limited our ability to share updates."
The Dutch company added that no evidence was found that customer data had been misappropriated or data confidentiality breached. Also, there would be no reason to believe that customers were infected with malware via the applications and platforms. On May 7, Wolters Kluwer brought several platforms back online. In Europe, the platforms can now be used again.
