An official of the municipality of Den Bosch made a mistake: a list for internal use was shared with a resident. The list contained information on some 23,000 parking permit holders that included the citizen service number (BSN), name and address information.

"We obviously find it enormously annoying for the residents affected by this," the Information Bulletin for the City Council read. After the official responsible for the error reported the data breach, the municipality took action. The recipient of the e-mail was informed that it was not intended for him or her with a request that the e-mail be deleted.
"The recipient has been contacted by telephone. The recipient has confirmed both by phone and e-mail (in writing) that the e-mail and the personal data received have been deleted," the municipality said. Both the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens and all affected parties have been informed of the incident. The municipality has, it says, adjusted its internal work processes. It is now no longer possible to compile lists and share them with others.
