The data of three thousand members of the Dutch Genealogical Society (NGV) has been leaked. It involves e-mail addresses, passwords, telephone numbers and IP addresses. The NGV reports this on its website and in a letter to the association's members.

The NGV, which people engaged in genealogical research tend to join, was tipped off Sunday about the existence of the list of leaked data, and a link to the file in question was even posted on the website's message board. The link has since been removed.
In a letter to over six thousand members, the board offers its heartfelt apologies and includes advice on measures to avoid harmful effects as much as possible. The association is investigating whether to take the old website offline. The website does not use the HTTPS protocol. Also, the data breach has been reported to the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens (AP).
