In the Netherlands, many government organizations use your data. This includes data of citizens, companies and, for example, buildings. It is therefore important that all this data is correct. Is there nevertheless an error in a registration? Then it must be corrected quickly. The new Reporting Point for Errors in Government Records can help.

Anyone who wants an error corrected reports it to the organization involved. Sometimes this does not work, for example because it is not clear which organization someone should contact. Therefore, as of now, there is the Reporting Point for Errors in Government Records (MFO). The MFO is part of the Rijksdienst voor Identiteitsgegegevens (RvIG).
The MFO can be found at rvig.co.uk/mfo and on Rijksoverheid.nl. On rvig.nl/mfo there are 3 forms: for citizens, companies and (semi) governmental organizations. These can be used to submit a report online.
Various communication and information resources are available. The diagram posted under "an error in your data" describes step by step when and for what a person can turn to the MFO. Various animations are also available. All this information can be found at rivg.nl/mfo.
The MFO helps citizens, businesses and government organizations correct an error in a government record. The MFO:
points the way to the government organization that can correct the incorrect data.
helps when the reporter can't figure it out. Then we get to work to help resolve the error and the problems that have arisen as a result.
assists in getting incorrect data corrected when more than one government organization is involved or when cross-registry problems and errors are involved.
helps if it turns out that the data are correct but cause unintended consequences due to misinterpretation, for example.
helps stop the consequences of using incorrect data (such as citations and fines) wherever possible until a solution is reached. Until a resolution is reached, we make every effort to ensure that the reporter does not get into further trouble. Once resolution is achieved, we assist in remedying the consequences whenever possible.
The MFO works with the reporter and all government organizations involved until the data are correct again. It manages the knowledge gained and shares it with other government organizations. The MFO also supports government organizations with advice and coordinating activities. For example, when an organization is unable or insufficiently able to correct the incorrect data.
