Fiddling with receipts at the bike park? That will soon be over in a number of Amsterdam bicycle parking facilities. You will be able to check in and out with your OV chip card or bank card. Amsterdam will receive European funding for this new digital system.

It involves more than 2.5 million euros. That money will be divided between the municipality of Utrecht, Amsterdam, ProRail and NS. Amsterdam will receive 1 million. The money will be used for 3 digital methods; a so-called access system, a bicycle detection system and a referral system.
The access system means that you can check in and out at the parking facility with your debit or public transport chip card. The days of receipts are over. Do you have a subscription to the bicycle parking? Then you can get a tag on your bicycle. Checking in and out is then automatic.
The following stalls in Amsterdam will get the access system:
North
Rokin
Ceintuurbaan
Ferdinand Bol Street
Stock Exchange Square
Reguliersdwarsstraat
There is also a subsidy for new detection systems. These have already been implemented in the Beurspleinstalling. Digital signs in the parking facilities will show cyclists where there is still room. And on the bicycle routes there will be signs indicating which racks are full and where you can still park your bicycle.
By 2020, the new systems should be ready for use.
