With the increasing spread of misinformation through social media and other channels, municipalities and counties are increasingly confronted with it. This guide emphasizes the importance of a coordinated approach and offers specific courses of action for organizations, communications advisors and local politicians. The main points in the guide are:

  • Raising awareness: providing insight into the growing influence of misinformation. Partly due to the rise of digital technologies such as generative AI and deepfakes.

  • Preventive measures: advice for organizations to prevent misinformation, promote cooperation and strengthen resilience.

  • Strategies for effective response: a roadmap for responding quickly and effectively to misinformation to reduce its impact and restore trust.

The guide 'Dealing with misinformation for co-governments' can be viewed via the Public Administration Knowledge Bank.
