Every year, the National Sustainable Digital Information Management (RDDI) program investigates the knowledge, attitude and behavior of government employees regarding dealing with government information. The latest research shows that civil servants find good information management and open government important, but that their actions sometimes lag behind. To improve this, a government-wide campaign was launched.

To the research (link to other website) which was conducted by ICTU, over 800 government employees participated. Some results:
90 percent of officials think transparency and open government are important.
58 percent know how to work openly and transparently.
39 percent perceive that colleagues store information well.
Workload is a major barrier to storing and sharing information properly.
Half of the respondents store draft versions of documents centrally.
To encourage behavior change, the "We Do Our Work Carefully and Open" campaign has been launched. The campaign calls on government officials to store information centrally and retrievably, guard employee privacy and protect state secrets. In addition, the campaign emphasizes that most government information should be public and understandable.
