VNG Realisatie, Common Ground and the municipality of Delft jointly kicked off public consultation at the Meetup Municipal Data Model (GGM) in The Hague on November 8. With this, VNG is surveying the insights of municipalities and suppliers for further upscaling and standardization.

Information-driven work requires collecting and logically combining data from different sources. This data is often very different from each other and often lacks coherence. Therefore, the municipality of Delft developed a central data model that provides insight into all data within a municipality and enables information-driven work, the Municipal Data Model (GGM).
The goal of the GMM is to become the standard for information-driven work within municipalities. From the beginning, Delft envisioned sharing the model with other municipalities. The GGM is therefore available as an open source model for reuse and cooperation with other municipalities. It earned the municipality the GemeenteDelers Award last year.
Even though about a hundred municipalities are already participating, the GMM could still use a push to move forward, says Ashkan Ashkpour of the municipality of Delft. So at the Meetup organized by Knowledge Network Data and Society, he made another appeal to other municipalities to join in. "We have a growing community. Contribute to it and gain experience. It is becoming the standard for information-driven work. Suppliers are also joining more and more. Let's further improve the model together."
This is exactly why Tino van de Velde (VNG), Sandra van Wijngaarden (Common Ground) and Dirkjan van Dijk (CIO at the municipality of Delft) officially opened the public consultation by pressing a big red button together at the conclusion of the Meetup. "With this we really want to go out into the country to collect how the GMM is viewed by both municipalities and suppliers. Help us sharpen the model and provide new insights," Van Dijk gave as his message."
