Emails are circulating to Rabobank customers telling them to apply for a free "antibacterial debit card. However, the emails are fake, a Rabobank spokesperson explained on Twitter last Monday.

To request the pass, the e-mail message includes a link that sends you to a phishing site. This page then asks victims for their online banking information. It also occurs that victims are asked to turn in their current debit card by sending it in.
Emails were also circulated in early March telling people to replace their current debit cards because of the corona virus. In addition, Rabobank is not the only bank that has had to deal with this phishing tactic since the corona outbreak. ABN Amro, for example, has also previously revealed that it is struggling with fake messages about the corona virus and warns that cyber criminals are capitalizing on the fear of the virus.
