In Tilburg, a special scan car will be driving during the months of July and August. The car will drive in areas where paid parking applies. All parking locations will be mapped by the car.

The car can be identified by the "traffic investigation" sticker on the side. Parking checks are currently conducted by parking inspectors. Starting in the fall, checks will be performed by a scan car that scans the license plates of cars. In order to ensure that the scan car will soon have the correct data, the entire parking area is already being accurately mapped. For example, all parking spaces and area boundaries are being scanned.
License plate parking
The use of a scan car is part of the Tilburg municipality's switch to digital parking. Earlier, license plate parking via the parking meters for short-term parking was already introduced. Soon the paper parking permit (long term parking) will also be replaced by a digital parking permit. Permit holders will be informed about this. The municipality will outsource the implementation and enforcement to parking company P1.
The digital parking control meets the requirements of the General Data Protection Regulation (AVG). Scanned license plates are stored encrypted and are never kept longer than necessary for the purpose for which they were scanned.
