This guide is intended for employees involved in processes or projects in which personal data are processed. With the help of this guide, they can use the Pre-scan DPIA in an efficient and user-friendly way. We recommend keeping the original tools alongside this guide. The original tools provide the necessary context to answer the questions properly. In addition, always engage the appropriate expertise when performing the Pre-scan DPIA.

The Pre-scan DPIA helps an organization identify privacy risks in data processing projects early on. This is a checklist that allows you to easily determine in advance whether conducting a full Data Protection Impact Assessment (DPIA) is necessary.
This includes a Data Transfer Impact Assessment (DTIA) and an Impact Assessment Human Rights and Algorithms (IAMA). The organization gains insight into the potential risks affecting the rights and freedoms of data subjects. Moreover, this can prevent sanctions and reputational damage. The Pre-scan DPIA v1.0 was made available by the Ministry of the Interior at the end of August 2023.
