Are municipalities and professionals in the social domain sufficiently aware of privacy when helping (vulnerable) people? The publication 'Privacy in the social domain; awareness among municipalities' is intended to make municipalities and their chain partners more aware when processing personal data. It offers insight into choices to be made, as well as a collection of tools and methodologies. The input was collected and provided by municipalities participating in the Exchange of Personal Data and Privacy (UPP) program of the Social Domain Program. They have all been applied in practice and have led to positive results in terms of awareness.
Helping vulnerable people better almost always requires parties in the social domain to work together. The question then arises: what data are we allowed to use or exchange? What about the processing of personal data when there are multiple requests for help? How can we help people and protect their privacy?
Many municipalities and organizations in the social domain struggle with these questions. Especially since the arrival of the new privacy law: the General Data Protection Regulation (AVG). To support municipalities, we collected practical solutions and tips on this topic from the Exchange of Personal Data and Privacy (UPP) program of the Social Domain Program. Within this trajectory, VNG, Divosa, the Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations and the NDSD worked intensively with twenty municipalities.
