State Secretary Alexandra van Huffelen opened the National Innovation Center for Privacy-enhancing Technologies (nicpet) during the Stelseldag of the Realization Intergovernmental Data Strategy (IBDS) program. Nicpet gathers and shares knowledge to effectively deploy PETs to safely and ethically exchange and analyze data. Nicpet is a community, a knowledge base and a forum.

Privacy Enhancing Technologies (PETs) allow you to safely and lawfully analyze data while ensuring privacy. To use PETs properly within the government, there are often ethical and legal issues to be answered. The innovation center is there for the government and the public sector and is open to all parties who want to handle sensitive data better.
In addition to the new organization, this website has also been launched(link to other website). Here is a knowledge base, with research, guidelines and best practices on PETs. On the forum, visitors can share experiences. Furthermore, an overview of ongoing and completed projects in which nicpet is involved can be found.
Several organizations work together in Nicpet. The core team consists of representatives of TNO, CIP, JenV, BZK (IBDS), the Tax Authority, KvK and CBS. Forty other government organizations participate, in addition to a number of private parties as chain partners and technology providers.
