Privacy Awareness

The level of privacy awareness and trust in digital data sharing are the main reasons why people are or are not willing to share their data digitally. "There is a group of citizens who are really dismissive of the concept; either more fundamentally and fundamentally, or more from uncertainty and lack of trust," reads one of the survey's conclusions.

Four postures

The market researchers identify four different attitudes toward digital data sharing: Critics, Detractors, Confident Positives and Young Positives. Critics tend to be older than 65 and live primarily in northern regions. Young positives, on the other hand, tend to live in urban regions.

Online crime

For the Critical, privacy is an important issue. By contrast, for the Young Positives, privacy and online crime are less manifest themes. "I want to be in control myself. When provided by third parties, I don't know what data is being transferred," said one of the Critical participants in the survey. Little or no trust in the government is also one of the reasons citizens do not want to share their data, according to the survey.
