Proposal processing personal data in connection with counterterrorism coordination and analysis and national security

The government has published a bill for open consultation. This bill aims to legally enshrine a number of tasks of the Minister of Justice and Security in the field of combating terrorism and protecting national security and the related processing of (special) personal data in connection with increasing the resilience of society. The end date of the consultation is June 30.

Expected effects of the scheme on target groups

In connection with the objectives of the regulation in the field of counterterrorism and national security, the processing of personal data is possible for two tasks. These are a coordination task intended to promote the coherence and effectiveness of policy and measures to be taken in the area of counterterrorism and national security. It also involves an analysis task that involves identifying, analyzing and interpreting trends and phenomena in the area of terrorism and other threats and risks to national security in connection with increasing the resilience of society.
